Stable Diffusion XL has been a great leap forward and new optimizations have led to both new possibilities for lesser hardware and faster rendering for animation sequences.

A 512×512 version of the Stable Diffusion base model is now available here from the team behind Hotshot-XL. Developed for their new animation script, this checkpoint can be used and loaded by nearly any Stable Diffusion based generative system.

Download the 13.9 GB hsxl_base_1.0.safetensors or the 6.94 GB hsxl_base_1.0.f16.safetensors version or both. The smaller file will be the fastest way to run XL.

Place these files where you would normally place a Stable Diffusion base model checkpoint.

I mostly use ComfyUI so this would go inside ComfyUI/models/checkpoints but with Automatic1111 it would go inside A1111/models/Stable-diffusion.

You can now generate images without harsh vibrant artifacts at lower resolutions and at great speed! I find I can create 9 images in 15 seconds on a 3090TI at 512×512 while loading multiple LoRAs. Controlnet’s and LoRAs should all mostly still work.
